The may is almost end of spring and starting of monsoon in Nepal. If you want to trek in the greenery then the may is the best month of the year for the trek in Nepal. Mostly the morning is clear and the afternoon is cloudy and may rain little bit in the evening. 

The temperature is hot in May in Nepal however the degree of the temperature is varied in different places. As you will trek in the mountain, the maximum temperature can be 30 degree and minimum 0 degree or even may go minus in the high Himalayas.

The May is the best time for the mountain expedition in Nepalas well. The Everest was submitted on 29th may, 1954 for the first time. Now even most of the expedition teams of Everest or other mountains climb and take summit in May. So, we can say that the may is good time for the trekking in Nepal.

What extra equipment do you need to trek in May?

You need to have all the trekking gear that you need for the trek in other months, Furthermore, you can have less cold clothing and you need to have rain coat to trek in May as it may often rain in May.

Recomended Trekking in Nepal for May

As most of the expedition team take Summit of the Everest in May, the trekking to the Everest Base Camp is best in May to see the lot of the camps of the Expedition Team in May at the Base Camp. Furthermore, the temperature in May is warm comparatively with other months of the year. And there is almost no snow at the base camp and en route to the base camp So, the trekking to Everest Base camp in May easier in clear trekking trail.

The weather in May is mostly clear and little cloudily in afternoon, you can have clear visibility of the mountains in May so, the Everest Base Camp Trek is recommended for May.

Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is ideal for May. The Annapurna Circuit Trek starts from very lowland about 800 meters above sea level and goes high up to the 5416 meter above sea level.  So, you can see lot of greenery, valleys and clear mountain views in May. The Thorong La pass trail is opened and has no snow so; it is easier to pass this adventure high pass in the month of May.

The Annapurna circuit trek includes treks from the Bhulbhule to Manang valley, then to Thorong La pass, then to Muktinath Temple. Furthermore the trek goes Ghorepani-Poon Hill via Tadapani and trek to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.

Langtang Valley Trek

Trekking into the Langtang valley is short trek in Nepal. The Langtang valley is located in Langtang National Park and trekking in this region is best suited for the family with the children. You can see great view of the jungles, Himalayas and valleys in May. The temperature will be warm compare to other months and basically, the maximum temperature will be 25-30 degree and the minimum can be 0 degree in May. The trekking trails are clear and opened in May.

Manaslu Trek in Nepal

The Manaslu Trek is opened in May. As the May is end of the spring and starting of Moon soon, the temperature will be maximum 25 degree and minimum minus 5 degree in May. Basically, there is not snow in the trail and the Larke la pass in May. As you will do over the Larke la on Manaslu Trek, the month of May is good time to do this trek.

We start the trek from Arughat and end in Besishahar after the pass over the Larke la and you will see clear and great view of the Himalayas in May. Furthermore, you will see greenery, So, the trekking Manaslu in May is recommended.

Everest high Pass Trek


The Everest High passes Trek is adventure trek in Nepal and the trek includes all the high passed of the region. Being a warm month, all the high passes are opened in May. All the lodges and restaurants on the high pass trail are opened in May and basically, there will not be known in all the passes in May.

The Everest high pass trek starts from Lukla and follow the trail of the base camp till Dingbuche. You will trek to Chukum then take higher route to Lobuche by taking the Khumbi la Pass. You will be able to see great view of the Himalayas from the pass. You then trek to Everest Base camp and climb Kalapattar as well. You return trek to Lobuche and trek to Zong La and trek over the Chola pass and reach Gokyo Lake.

After visit Gokyo Lake and the Ri, you will trek to Thame by passing over the Renjo la and return to Namche then to Lukla to take flight back to Kathmandu.

The colds month like January and February are closed for this trail as there will be snow in the trails and passes. So, the May can be the best to trek over these passes of Everest Region.
