The Civil aviation association of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to use Ramechhap (Manthali) Airport to fly to and from Lukla for the coming autumn season as well. The Civil aviation association of Nepal (CAAN) has informed that there is increment of traffic congestion at Kathmandu Airport and the Lukla sector is the most busiest domestic flights sectors of Nepal So, to avoid the  traffic congestion and minimized the load of Tribhuvan International airport they have decided to operate all the lukla flight from Manthali airport of Ramechhap.

The Effects on our Treks

All the trekking in Everest Region (Sagarmatha National park) including Everest Base Camp Trek starts from Lukla by taking flight from Kathmandu and end at Lukla and taking return flight from Lukla to Kathmandu however after the decision of operating all the flights from and to Lukla from Manthali, we have to change the flight from and to Lukla from Manthali that effect our program as most of the flight to and from Lukla are operated in the morning from 6:00 am and the Manthali airport is about 137 KM a way from Kathmandu that takes about 4-5 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. So, we need to start our drive about 2:00 am (mid night) from Kathmandu to catch our flight from Manthali to Lukla.

So, we would like to request all our costumer those have booked treks in Everest region to have this information updated as now, we have to drive to Manthali Airport at 2:00 am from Kathmandu to catch flight from Manthali to Lukla So, we would like to request to arrive Kathmandu few days earlier rather arriving just a day before of the trek starts or arrive at early day in day 01 as we have to drive to Manthali at 2:00 am as if you will arrive in late evening then you will not have time to be refreshed from jetlag.

Or we have options to fly to Lukla from Kathmandu by talking helicopter flight to Lukla however the helicopter flights is costly. Please do let us know if you want to take helicopter flight.
