The Semi Luxury Everest Base Camp Trekking is the best EBC trekking itinerary for time-bound trekkers who're comfortable speeding up the hike. This short EBC Trek doesn't compromise with the actual adventure that the Everest Base Camp is known for because we follow the same route as the standard EBC Trek. The only difference is that we move a little faster by increasing daily walking hours and skipping an acclimatization day.

Despite a lesser acclimatization day, you will complete the Everest Base Camp Medium Deluxe Trek in 11 days without much difficulty, given that you're in good mental and physical shape. It only makes us stronger by challenging ourselves and pushing our limits. If you're a real adventurer, you'll love this 11 days Semi Luxury Everest Base Camp Trekking.

In fact, the astonishing mountainous landscape decorated by slow-clad mountains, barren rocky lands, lush green forests, agricultural lands, and beautiful little villages will make you forget all the strenuous walks and fill your heart with gratitude for the pure nature surrounding you. The locals' broad smiles and courteous "Namaste" will inspire you even more. Learning about the rich Buddhist culture in ancient monasteries makes the trek equally spiritual as it is adventurous.

Outfitter Nepal guarantees an enjoyable and safe trekking adventure in the Everest region. Let's walk through the memorable experiences you're signing up for by booking our Everest Base Camp Semi Luxury Trek.

Fly in the most thrilling Kathmandu – Lukla flight

You must have heard about the infamous Lukla airport. It's time for you to see it in person as we fly from Kathmandu to Lukla to begin our 11 days Everest Base Camp Semi Luxury Hike. What makes the Lukla Airport, also known as tensing Hillary Airport, one of the world's most dangerous airports? It's a short runway of 450 meters in length and 20 meters in width inclined at a staggering 12% grade hillside slope. But worry not; extraordinarily qualified and experienced pilots run the flights to ensure a safe landing.

Spend a whole day exploring Namche Bazaar while acclimatizing

Namche Bazaar, a Himalayan town located at an elevation of 3440 meters, will amaze you with its modern amenities. You'll find luxurious hotels, restaurants, cafes, pubs, mountaineering equipment stores, ATMs, and whatnot! A stroll in the streets of Namche Bazaar and visiting museums and viewpoints make for a successful acclimatization day for your 11 days Everest Base Camp Trek.

Visit ancient monasteries and closely observe Buddhist culture

On your way to the Everest Base Camp, you'll walk past numerous monasteries, chortens, Mani walls, and prayer flags. All these details add up to the spiritual value of the 11 days Everest Base Camp trek. Among all, the Tengboche monastery is the largest in the Khumbu region and is also renowned as one of the oldest. You are free to visit the monastery and observe the Buddhist rituals closely. Most of the Everest region is inhabited by Sherpas, who have been preserving their ancient Buddhist culture for generations.

Enjoy the mesmerizing Himalayan landscape dominated by giant mountains

A long before you reach the Everest Base Camp, you'll witness the giant mountains dominating the enchanting Himalayan landscape. The 11 days Everest Base Camp trekking route features dense rhododendron and pine forests, tiny local settlements, agricultural fields, pristine waterfalls, and water streams flowing gorgeously under suspension bridges in the lower altitudes.

The scenery transforms each day during the hike. As you ascend to higher elevations, the green vegetation is replaced by barren lands, plateaus, yak grazing fields, rocky hills, and snowy mountains of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, etc. Each day brings newness to your EBC trekking adventure.

Stand tall at the foothill of the world's highest mountain peak

Standing at the base of the world's highest mountain peak is surreal. You'll feel like you're at the top of the world. Only a few people make it to that high. Though you're not allowed to stay the night at the Everest Base Camp, you can explore the area as much as you like. The massive Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall are the highlights of the extraordinary things you'll see in your 11 days Everest Base Camp Semi Luxury Trekking trial. Take in the view all you can. You've come a long way to see this magical vista.

Watch the once-in-a-lifetime mountain sunrise from Kala Patthar

Our 11 Days Bespoke Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek continues beyond the base camp. The following day, we hike to the highest point of the trek, Kala Patthar (5644 m), before sunrise to witness the golden hues of Himalayan sunrise against Mt Everest and the surrounding mountains. It is Kala Patthar, where you'll see the entire face of Mt. Everest from a different angle. It is a view you only get to see once in a lifetime.

A brief Summary of Bespoke Semi Luxury Everest Base Camp Trekking

Like the regular EBC hike, we begin the 11 Days Everest Base Camp Medium Luxury Trek with a flight to Lukla and then hiking down along Dudh Koshi to reach Phakding. We then enter the Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo and ascend toward Namche Bazaar, where we spend 2 nights and a full day resting and exploring the beautiful town. We continue our hike up to Pangboche, Thukla, and finally to Everest Base Camp via Gorekshep. After a mesmerizing sunrise hike to Kala Patthar, we return the same way back, spending each night at Pheriche and Namche Bazaar to catch a flight from Lukla and finally arrive at Kathmandu.

Useful InformationGood to know before you travel

Maximum Elevation

While we are trekking to Everest Base Camp, the highest point we will reach is not the base camp itself. The maximum altitude during the  Everest Base Camp Semi Luxury Trek happens to be Kala Patthar, located at the height of 5644 meters. The following morning after exploring the EBC, we ascend to Kala Patthar for a stunning sunrise view of Mount Everest and the surroundings. Actually, Kala Patthar, not base camp, is where you can see Mount Everest's entire face.

Difficulty Level

The 11 days Everest Base Camp Deluxe Trek Tailor-made itinerary has a medium level of difficulty. If this is your first experience trekking, especially on a trail across the Himalayas, you might find it a little challenging to finish, but it's still doable. The trail is narrow and rugged, with several uphill and downhill stretches, and you'll be walking for 6-8 hours each day.

Since we've reduced the number of hiking days for this short Semi Luxury EBC trek of 11 days, it's more challenging than the standard 14 days itinerary because you have to walk more each day. It takes physical stamina and good health to participate in this excursion. Make sure to accustom your body to cardio to better prepare for the hike.

Transportation

The motorable road hasn't yet made it to the Everest region. If you decide to go by road, you can take a local jeep up to Jiri and start your journey toward Lukla from there, although this lengthens the trek by a few days, which makes it impossible to finish the tour in 11 days.

Flying to Lukla, the entry point of the Everest region is the most popular method of getting to the Everest Base Camp. The flight over the mountains from Kathmandu/Ramechhap to Lukla takes 30 minutes. In addition to a quick and comfortable journey, flying to Lukla allows you to take in the aerial perspective of the Himalayas.

Accommodation

Although you'll be staying in a 3-star hotel with complementary breakfast in Kathmandu, you'll have to spend the nights in mountain lodges or tea houses after departing on the trekking journey from Kathmandu. Except for a few well-developed towns, many lodges are maintained by locals and lack modern conveniences. But worry not; you'll get to sleep in a bed with a comfortable mattress, pillows, and warm blankets.

The rooms are available on a sharing basis. So, depending on the size of the room, a room is shared by 2–5 persons. However, you will get individual beds. Restrooms are usually equipped with western toilets and basic taps and. Don't forget to carry your own toiletries for hygiene purposes.

Meals

What you eat while you're in Kathmandu is totally your choice as lunch and dinner in Kathmandu are not included in our price. There are plenty of restaurants serving multiple cuisines in Thamel, where you'll be staying.

You will be served all meals while hiking (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The menu at the tea house features a small selection of locally sourced, wholesome foods. The most typical meal is Daal Bhat, which includes rice, lentil soup, seasonal vegetables, salad, and pickles. It is an excellent source of all the macros required for your body during the hike. Other choices include Momo, noodles, tea, coffee, ginger tea, etc.

Drinking Water

We strongly believe in eco-tourism and encourage our visitors to travel responsibly. Instead of paying for plastic bottled water in tea shops, bring a bottle and fill it with hot water at the tea houses. A bottle with a built-in filtration system is the best to fill up with fresh water along the way. You can also purchase some filtering pills to make your water safer to drink.

Guides and Potters

Trekking to the Everest Base Camp doesn't require a guide compulsorily. But traveling with a guide makes your trip much more fruitful. We offer knowledgeable local guides who have completed multiple treks in the Everest region and have firsthand knowledge of the terrain, local customs, and weather patterns. We highly recommend you book our package, which comes with a guide's salary included in the price.

Likewise, we offer 1 potter for every 2 trekkers, and they can each carry a maximum of 12 kilos from one person. If you're an expert hiker who has spent weeks in high elevations, you might not require a potter, but given the difficult hiking trail, it's always preferable to hire potters.

Permits Required

To start this 11 days Everest Base Camp Semi Luxury trip, you need two permits from the designated authorities. Decentralization has led to the requirement of a new permit framework in the Everest Region. It is no longer necessary to acquire a Trekker Information Management System (TIMS) Card.

To visit the Everest region, you need the following two permits:

Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit for NPR 3000 (available in Monjo or Kathmandu)

Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit for NPR 2000 (issuable only in Lukla)
