Chisapani Nagarkot Hike is a short 3 days hiking trek near Kathmandu. Available at any time of the year, this hike is best for people having limited time who have a keen desire to experience hiking in Nepal. As the trek is suitable for all age groups and fitness levels, it can be a great idea for a family vacation. Even your children and seniors can enjoy the hike as there’s no prior trekking experience required.
The Chisapani Nagarkot Trek starts with a short drive to Sundarijal from Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal). The adventure begins in Sundarijal by entering the Shivapuri National Park. The Shivapuri-Nagarjun is the youngest national park in Nepal. After about 5-6 hours of trekking from Sundarijal through a forest and some villages on the way, you reach Chisapani, which is the place of stay for the first night.
After staying overnight at Chisapani, you trek to Nagarkot the next day. Nagarkot is one of the most popular viewpoints near Kathmandu to view gorgeous sunrise and sunset over the Himalayas as it is located at the altitude of 2211 meters above sea level. If the weather is clear, you can see great views of the Himalayas including Annapurna, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, Ganesh Himal, and some more. You stay the second night at a resort in Nagarkot.
On the last day of your hiking journey, you will hike down to Chagunarayan temple, a UNESCO heritage site that has been preserved for generations. However, you can only see the remains of the temple as the 2015 earthquake destroyed it severely. The hike from Nagarkot to this temple takes about 4 hours. Once you visit Chagunarayan Temple and have lunch, you’ll drive back to Kathmandu to end the trip.
