Children are welcome to trek the Annapurna Circuit, but it depends on their fitness level and ability to handle long days of walking. For families with young children, we recommend a shorter version of the trek and skipping the Tilicho Lake detour, as it involves more challenging high-altitude trekking.

Yes, older adults can join the Annapurna Circuit, but they must be in good health and have no underlying medical conditions that might affect them during the trek.

Although the trek is challenging, beginners can join the trek with proper preparation and guidance.

Physical Fitness

On average, you’ll trek around 5-8 hours per day, depending on your pace and the day's distance.

Focus on improving cardiovascular endurance, leg strength, and stamina.

We advise you to train at least 2-3 months before the trek. This allows enough time for your body to develop physical endurance, stamina, and resilience.

We suggest you work out for 30 to 45 minutes at least four days a week to improve your fitness level.

Arrival and Visas

The cost of a Tourist Visa depends on the length of your stay. For 15 days, it is 30 USD; for 30 days, it is 50 USD; and for 90 days, it is 125 USD.

You can extend your tourist visa for up to 150 days at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara for an additional cost.

Yes, Nepal offers an online visa application system. You can complete the form and pay the visa fee online at the Nepal Immigration website.

Yes, most international visitors to Nepal require a visa. You can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu or land border entry points. The visa is usually granted for 15, 30, or 90 days, depending on your needs. Bring a valid passport, passport-sized photos, and the necessary visa fee in cash (USD or NPR).

Payments and Extra Costs

Additional costs include extra snacks, drinks, charging devices, and Wi-Fi.

Cash is preferred for payments. You can withdraw money in Kathmandu or Pokhara before the trek. Regardless, you can use them in major cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara.

The expenses for the trek depend entirely on you. We suggest budgeting approximately USD 1250 to USD 2250, depending on your personal expenses.

The cost covers guides, porters, trekking permits, meals, and accommodation.

Accommodation

Accommodation along the trek is in tea houses or guesthouses. These basic lodgings offer rooms with shared bathrooms and a bed for the night.

Expect simple rooms with basic facilities. Higher altitudes may have more basic accommodations with fewer amenities, but the rooms are clean and provide a resting place.

Private rooms are available at most teahouses but cost more than shared rooms. If you prefer privacy, be sure to mention it in advance.

Most teahouses have a common area with a stove or heater, but rooms may not have heating. It's a good idea to bring warm clothes for sleeping, especially at higher altitudes.

Food and Drinks

Yes, snacks are available for purchase at most teahouses and small shops along the trail.

The food along the trek is simple but nutritious, with a variety of Nepali, Tibetan, and Western-style dishes.

Yes, vegetarian options are widely available along the route. However, please inform us of your dietary restrictions so we can cater accordingly.

Drinking tap water directly is not recommended; it is best to treat it with purification tablets or boil it for added safety.

Health and Safety

Yes, travelers might be at risk of altitude sickness. So, it is important to hike at a gradual pace and acclimatize properly before ascending higher.

To reduce the risk, ensure proper acclimatization by ascending gradually, staying hydrated, and eating well. Avoid exerting yourself too much, and take rest days. If symptoms appear, descend to a lower altitude immediately and inform our guide.

Basic first aid is available and is known in our guide. However, for serious health issues, you may need to be evacuated.

Practical Matters

Yes, the posts shared on the platform are first-hand travelers' experiences, providing valuable details to those interested.

The trek usually starts from Besisahar, which can be reached by bus or jeep from Kathmandu or Pokhara.

Hiring a guide or porter is highly recommended for better navigation, especially when trekking to Tilicho Lake. Guides can also help with language barriers and ensure safety, while porters will lighten your load.

If you need to cancel or change your plans, contact us immediately. However, 10% of the deposit will be kept as an administrative fee during the cancellation process.

Travelers must respect local customs and traditions and avoid invading private properties and sacred sites.

Transportation and Flights

You will travel from Kathmandu to Chamje by road, passing through green hills, villages, and terraced fields with beautiful views of the mountains. Depending on the group size, you will travel by private vehicle or tourist bus.

The roads are generally a mix of paved and rough dirt roads, particularly in the more remote areas like Jomsom. The roads can be bumpy; depending on the season, they may be prone to mudslides or road blockages. Be prepared for a long but scenic journey.

The trekking packages include services for all road transport from Kathmandu to Chamje, Jomsom to Pokhara, and Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Excellent Experience

My wife and I chose Outfitter Nepal after applying the usual matrix looking to meet our needs. They were the only company that responded in full to all of our questions for the trip and were able to supply a more logical itinerary than I had originally supplied.

As promised...
