Premium Everest Base Camp Trek Route

The trek will lead you through several mountainous terrains, from the green forest hill at Namche to the beautiful alpine glaciers at the Everest Base Camp. The trails you will be hiking on are well-formed in the lower valley, but the terrain will become uneven and rocky as you approach Everest Base Camp. So, you must have good balance and stability to enjoy the best trekking experience in the region. Trekking is moderate on most days and will involve 6-8 hours of hiking, with several scenic places to witness. Besides, to mitigate the issue of the increasing altitude in the expedition, the itinerary includes rest days in certain areas to allow your body to adjust to the low oxygen level of the environment. It is also advisable to stay hydrated along the way as it helps avoid early symptoms of AMS.

To avoid flight delays due to unpredictable weather conditions, you will board a helicopter in Kathmandu and travel to Lukla. From there, you will hike to Phakding village, and the trail will lead you to the lower Khumbu Valley. A long descent up thick pine forests will lead to the Namche Bazaar, a trade center for the Sherpa people for generations. There are several delightful sights to enjoy in the village and numerous places to visit. On your rest day in Namche, you will walk to Sir Edmund Hillary's hospital in Nepal, which is situated in Khunde village. Also, you can hike a bit further to Khumjung and taste delicious croissants at the local bakery. The next day, you will hike up towards Tengboche through a gorgeous rhododendron forest. The trail will then gradually climb up through sub-alpine regions and towards Pangboche. You can visit the oldest monastery in the area and immerse yourself in activities like prayers and meditation.

The next step of the trek is a gradual walk up to Dingboche. The serene village is on a green plain with a stunning landscape. Here, we will commence the second rest day of our expedition and hike the surrounding areas. From here, you will hike to the nearby village of Lobuche and go to Everest Base Camp and Gorak Shep, the final resting point of the trek. There are plenty of activities here, as numerous Sherpa prepare their tents, fuel, and oxygen cylinders to climb the mighty Himalayan mountains. Tomorrow, you will leave the Everest region behind and enjoy a spectacular and scenic helicopter ride back to Kathmandu.

Difficulty Level of Premium 10-Day Everest Base Camp Trek

Suppose you are someone who has never trekked before, especially in the high-altitude regions in the Himalayas of Nepal. The 10-day Premium Everest Base Camp Trek can be challenging as you will be hiking in steep and uneven paths for most of the trek. Moreover, during the expedition, you will be hiking for 5 to 6 hours daily, so you need to be in good physical and mental health. You will be walking on remote and challenging terrains of the mountains, which will require you to build up the strength of your legs and abdominal muscles. Besides, trekking in elevations higher than 4000m poses a significant risk of AMS. You should notify the trek leader or the Guide if you feel any warning symptoms such as headache, nausea, shortness of breath, and fatigue.

Altitude Sickness and Remedies during Luxurious Everest Base Camp Trek

Altitude sickness starts to develop in humans as the body cannot adapt to the high air pressure and low oxygen levels in the high-altitude regions. As the oxygen level drops at an elevation over 3000m, some travelers will begin to experience mild symptoms of altitude sickness. So, if you are experiencing them, consider following the tips below to protect yourself from the risks associated with AMS.

  • Maintain a healthy plan during the trek.
  • Keep yourself hydrated and remain alcohol-free.
  • Take Diamox, one of the most effective medications for AMS.
  • Walk on a slow and gradual pace.
  • Acclimate periodically throughout the journey.
  • Stop your progress and receive immediate medical attention if you experience severe symptoms.

    Short Annapurna Base camp Trek

We strongly recommend Outfitter Nepal for any trekking experiences within Nepal. We just got back from doing the Annapurna Base Camp trek . We arranged to from Australia via email and the response and support from Raj and Arjun was outstanding.

Everything was spot on from the time we arrived at KTM and met by their rep to bus tickets, day tours, transfers to airport and accommodation....all excellent. We arranged a side trip of 3 days/2nts to Chitwan after the trek and again, all organized and we felt very looked after.

Chitwan personal at the Jungle safri Resort were outstanding..thanks.

The guides (Amar) and porters were great, the trek outstanding and nothing was too much trouble.
