Day01

Arrival in Kathmandu

A representative from Outfitter Nepal will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to the designated Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Later in the evening, we will discuss the journey ahead and have a wonderful dinner with other guides and tour members.

Day02

Sightseeing around Kathmandu (Visa Application Optional)

On day two, we will prepare to obtain your visa and visit the Chinese Embassy. After you complete the visa procedure, our guide will lead you sightseeing around Kathmandu. Our short excursion begins from Pashupatinath Temple, a revered Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then, we will drive towards Boudhanath Stupa, where we will complete the circumambulation of the sacred shrines and pray with the locals. The sightseeing ends after we explore the Swayambhunath, a monkey temple. The views from here are remarkable as you will have a panoramic view of the capital city. Finally, we will ride back to our Hotel and enjoy our dinner.

Drive from Kathmandu to Nagarkot

Today, you will wake up early and enjoy a hearty breakfast at the Hotel. After a short break, we will board a private vehicle to visit beautiful Nagarkot. It is a popular destination around Kathmandu for travelers to escape the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Nagarkot is also a popular vantage point as you can witness majestic mountain peaks like Langtang, Garishankher, and Ganesh Himal. The journey covers a total distance of 28km and takes about 1 hour 45 minutes to complete. Once you arrive at the resort, get ready to relax and enjoy the marvelous sunset with a hot beverage. In the evening, we will have a campfire and enjoy our meal with the rest of the tour members and guide.

Return to Kathmandu Via Bhaktapur

After a hearty breakfast early in the morning, we will begin our drive back to Kathmandu. Along the way, our tour guide will take you to a short detour around Bhaktapur. During this brief excursion, you will visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square and other unique cultural and religious shrines and monuments. The medieval city is also famous for its various restaurants and eateries, which provide authentic Newari cuisines and beverages. Apart from the exploration, you can also participate in potter activities and create your art piece at a reasonable price.

Day05

Drive from Kathmandu to Kyirong via the Nepal-Tibet Border

We will wake up early and pack our baggage for the drive to Syabrubesi. After checking out of the Hotel, we will hop on a private jeep or bus and walk through suburban areas, terraced farmlands, and beautiful hills. After arriving at Syabrubesi, we will have a quick lunch break and relax. Moving on, we will drive to Rashuwagadhi, 15 m from Syabrubesi. This is where we will complete the immigration process and travel to China. Eventually, our remaining immigration formalities will be completed by the Chinese authorities, and we will continue our drive to Kyirong. The 70km road drive takes around 3 hours to complete. Finally, we will arrive at the Hotel in Kyirong, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Rest Day at Kyirong

Drive from Kyirong to Saga

Day08

Drive from Saga to Payang to Mansarovar Lake

As we leave the beautiful town of Saga, the road ahead leads us through the Tibetan valleys. We will pass by small towns, including Zhongba and Paryang. Enjoy the views of lush pasture lands and charming villages as you cross the Mayomla pass (5122m). In addition, you can witness the breathtaking views of Mt. Naimonanyi (7694 meters) as the ride takes us through the pass. Eventually, we arrive at the holy Lake Mansarovar, one of the sacred lakes in Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. As you get closer to this pristine lake, you will be welcomed by the serene view of Chiu Monastery on the lake's northwest shore. After enjoying the surrounding views and exploring the area, we will head to the Hotel and spend the night after a hearty meal.

Exploration of Lake Mansarovar and drive to Darchen

Our morning begins as we wake up and visit the holy lake for prayers and meditation. After completing the rituals according to your religion, we will explore the lake and enjoy the morning view of the surrounding landscapes. Moving on, we will visit the Chiu Gompa and the nearby Rakchas Taal and return to our Hotel for the 2-hour drive to Darchen. The small village is a hub for travelers and pilgrims visiting the Kailash region. Darchen hosts several restaurants and cafes where you can relax and enjoy coffee in the evening.

Day10

Trek from Darchen to Dirapuk (Kailash Kora Day 1)

Today is the first day of Mount Kailash Kora. We start the day by having breakfast at the Hotel and hopping on the jeep to Sarshung Valley. This small town is the starting point of the trek around Mount Kailash. Remember that if you want your luggage to be carried for the trek, you can hire a potter at the village or even pack animals. After making the necessary preparations and arrangements, we begin the hike as we make our way along the beautiful rocky cliffs. Today's hike is 15 km long and passes through the gorgeous Lachu Valley. By the end of the day, we will arrive at Dirapuk, our destination for today. You can spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Dirapuk Monastery and offering your prayers.

Day11

Trek from Dirapuk to Zuthulphuk (Kailash Kora Day 2)

We begin our trek today around 7:00 AM and hike towards the wast face of Kuberkunsa Pass (5600m). After walking for some time, we will gradually descend to Zuthulphuk (4800m). Moving ahead, we will then make a steep climb with the help of our trekking poles and ropes if necessary. Once you reach the top, you will be greeted by the views of Mount Kailash, Nandi Parbat, and Astha Path. After the brief exploration, we will hike to Zuthulphuk, home to the Cave of Miracles. This is where the great sage Milerapa mediated and supposedly performed miracles. Later in the afternoon, you can visit the Zuthulphu Monastery and learn about the region's culture and history.

Day12

Trek from Zuthulphuk to Darchen (End of Kailash Kora) and drive to Saga

Once we arrive at Darchen, we will rest for a while and enjoy lunch at a local lodge. Eventually, we will board a private vehicle to Saga, following the scenic Tibetan highway and its beautiful surroundings.

Drive from Kyirong to Kathmandu

Visa for Nepal

You can obtain a Nepal visa from the Nepalese Embassy or another consulate in your home country.
