Kathmandu Valley Ridge Trek is a small short 4-day hike in the ridges of Kathmandu valley. The Kathmandu Ridge hike includes hike from Kathmandu-Chisapani-Nagarkot-Dhulikhel-Kathmandu and the trek is best way to have the trekking experience near Kathmandu.

The Kathmandu Valley Ridge Trek starts with a short drive to Sundarijal. You then trek to Chisapani that takes about 5 hours. The trek route from Sundarijal to Chisapani falls in Shivapuri-Nagarjun National park and the Shivapuri National park is the youngest National park of Nepal. You have first overnight at Chisapani of this Ridge hike.

Kathmandu Ridge hike goes to Nagarkot after an overnight at Chisapani. It takes about 6 hours to reach Nagarkot from Chisapani through forests, villages and settlements. The hike is best way to view the Nepali village along the trails. You see great views of the Himalayas from the trails and have great sunset view from the Nagarkot. You have sunrise views in the next morning from Nagarkot then you start the trek to Dhulikhel, another beautiful town of Nepal.

The Kathmandu Ridge Trek goes further to Namobuddha from Dhulikhel. After a night stay in Dhulikhel, you either can drive back to Kathmandu or you will continue trek to Namobuddha. Visit the monastery in Namobuddha and take drive back to Kathmandu do end the short 4-day Kathmandu ridge trek in Nepal.

You drive to Sundarijal which takes about an hour and start our hike, the trail gradually up with pine and oak forest, the Shivapuripuri National park is a good spot for bird watching and some other wild animal can be seen during the hiking, from Chisapani, we will see panoramic view of Himalayas and the valley and this is the resident of Sherpa ethnic group.

After having breakfast at lodge, we start our hike to Nagarkot and it is about 6 hour hike, we will stop at Chauki Bhanjyang for lunch which takes about 3 hours and continue the charming trails for another 3 hours toward Nagarkot, and we will view the Himalaya range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east, emerges from the darkness to greet the happy visitor with its awe inspiring majesty and beauty and we will have great sunset view from Nagarkot.

After having sunrise view from Nagarkot, we will have hot breakfast at hotel then we approach Dhulikhel, a glut of cultural diversities, traditional practices and lush vegetation, the Dhulikhel (1440m.) is a small town of Newar with a long history, according to the records it has been around for more than 500 years and the artistic skill and urban ethos of its Newar inhabitants have created a place of charm and we will have sunrise view.

We start our hike after having sunrise view from Dhulikhel and breakfast at lodge; the trail climbs up to the Kali Mandir, a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali and the trail drops down to the village of Kavre and past a line of shops and tea houses, then climbs again through pine woods past Phulbari and up and down a couple of more hills before we reach the hill of Namobuddha, the Namobuddha situated at an elevation of 1750m.

It is an important Buddhist Pilgrimage located in Kavre District about 38 km east of Kathmandu and the Stupa and shrines built in this lovely little hill mark a very ancient holy site where a legendary prince named Mahasattva offered to a starving Tigress with several underfed cubs, the legendary episode is depicted in a stone slab and placed right next to a holy Stupa, after visiting the Namobuddha we drive to Kathmandu.

Excellent Experience

Had a splendid time throughout the trip during end of Dec, The knowledgeable guides and friendly porters were always making sure that we were comfortable.

Excellent Experience

I have just returned from Nepal after spending a week with guides from Outfitter Nepal, although I was only guest on the trip nothing was ever too much trouble, the staff are excellent, the guides very knowledgeable, the hotels are clean and comfortable and the food was very good, well done.
