Kakani can be said as the best recreational place suitable for those who love adventure. This place is located in Nuwakot district, the northwest of Kathmandu. It generally takes 1.5 hours to get there by vehicle. This place has a mesmerizing view of the mountain ranges such as Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri ranges extra. Along with that once do various adventurous sports activities such as nature trails, bike riding, and hiking. As one can do few hours hike to Surya Chour and there are few hiking trails around Kakani.
Kakani also has a British Gurkhas bungalow and a park made in the memory of victims of Thai Airways International Flight 311 in which nearly 23 Nepalese died. The devastating accident took place in 1992 AD.
Apart from that one can observe the strawberry plantation done by local farmers, which is supported by the United Nations Development Program.
Moreover, the famous Osho Tapoban International Commune is also located in Kakani.
